Tempting the Wrath of God
Something got smote this morning.
I had just left Starbucks clutching my latte and delighting/bemoaning the news that a harbinger of Autumn was arriving next week – the Pumpkin Spice Latte! As if faux tombstones and spider-webbing in the display at Walgreens isn’t bad enough.

He Said You'd Never Go Back....
Saturday at Farmers Market we bought 2 kinds of garlic from the garlic guy.
I don’t actually remember the names of the garlic we bought, but the nice man said once we’d had real garlic, we’d never ever buy supermarket garlic again.
Yeah, yeah, blah, blah…. taste sensation… mmmhmm, I just need some damn garlic.
Except he was right. Tonight when making pasta sauce I took 2 fat juicy cloves, crushed and chopped them. Oh, the aroma! I dropped them into a pan filled with hot olive oil and our house was filled with the most delicious garlic aroma ever.
I tasted little crushed piece. VERY strong! Delightfully full of yummy garlicky flavor and just ever so slightly sharp on the tongue.
Spying On Your Friends and Neighbors dot Com
I love the internet and the free flow of information. Tonight Mike told me to visit MGE.com and click on the energy usage link. Simply type in an address and bam! you can see how much energy a house uses. It gives very general information like High, Low and Average usage of Gas and Electricity for the last 12 months.
IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!
Last night I had Abba’s Super Trouper pop into my head and since I hadn’t actually ripped the entirety of Abba Gold I pulled out the CD and apologized to Mike in advance.
Tonight the Super Trouper lights are gonna find me
Shining like the sun (Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Smiling, having fun (Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Feeling like a number one
This morning it was still rattling around in my head and I decided to save my sanity I’d rip it and pull it and a few more Abba songs on my blank sob iPod.
Pushing Buttons on my iPod
I was tired today. At first I couldn’t sleep because I itched. Then at 12:30 am Adam came upstairs wet. Despite the fact that I was sitting next to my bedroom door reading a book and had the light on, my little sad, wet sleepwalker walked right into our closed bedroom door. thunk
I carried him downstairs, changed him, changed his sheets, tucked him in and went back to my scratchy chair and my damp, rough towel. 30 minutes later Adam come back upstairs, this time coming straight to me instead of straight into a closed door. “mommy i need you.” I try to convince him to go sleep in my spot on the bed. He goes to look and comes back a few minutes later. “Daddy’s there,” he tells me. Daddy, it seems, has sprawled in my absence.
Cat and Mouse
Friday evening Spike delivered his humans another mouse, lovingly dropped in front of our side door.
This now makes mouse number 5 that our intrepid hunters have delivered to us.
On the one hand, it’s completely disgusting and repulsive to find dead rodents around the house. On the other hand, our kitties are doing exactly what cats have done for millenia — prevent rodent infestations.
At this rate, we’ll have over 20 dead rodentia by the end of the summer. I only wish that we had some sort of other predator we could feed the dead mice to and not have them stinkin’ up the garbage can in the hot sun.

One Good Turn Deserves Tequila (apparently)
At my previous job I worked with a woman from Mexico who was up here working as an Oracle business analyst. Since she was scheduled to be here through May and didn’t have much in the way of creature comforts in her studio apartment I lent her a small TV and a mini-microwave since I had no plans to use them and she needed them for a short while.
Happily for her, her work visa has been extended for 3 more years and she’s here for the duration. Today she stopped by with the TV and microwave (anyone need to borrow small appliances?) and a bottle of Don Julio white agave tequila as a thank you for being kind enough to lend her stuff that would have otherwise been taking up space in my basement.
Nifty. I can’t wait to try it out, but first I think we need a baby sitter.
Winged Backyard Creatures
Last night I got home and went to inspect the progress of my recently fertilized, watered, and slightly more buried in topsoil plants.
Thats when I noticed it.
Long, black, skinny, winged creatures with orange legs hovering over the dirt.
Normally I don’t have that P-A-N-I-C feeling when I see flying bugs. These, however, made me nervous. After extensive googling I determined them to be wasps. eeeuuuuurrrrgggghhhhhhh
I showed them to Mike when he got home. “Yep, those are wasps.” he pronounced.
