Adam
Stuff about Adam
You Aaaaaaaaare Radio Staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar
I know that having The Buggles stuck in my head isn’t the worst song that could be running through my head.
I think I feel sorry for Adam who seems to get songs stuck in his head already and can’t pull out an iPod and listen to the damn song to make it go away.
Ooh-wa-oooh
I met your children
Ooh-wa-oooh
What did you tell them…
His newest development is this cute-but-annoying phrase.
“Adam, time for bed.”
“oh man…” (except it sounds like me-aan)
Adam, you have to wear socks, it’s cold out.”
“oh, man…”
This is a lot better than the other disturbing trend of saying “na-na boo boo,” some scatological reference… “you’re a poopy butt!”, or his other disturbing trend of having things making shooting and exploding noises.
BusyBusy
Last week I had to go to Chicago for work. I spent the night at ScottK’s lovely condo in Chicago. It’s nice to have friends you can just pick up with and talk like no time has passed.
I have to go to Chicago (again) on Friday for work. This time I won’t be going for an overnight — I’ll be driving with co-workers in my car at 6:30 in the morning. The annoying part is that when I’m in Naperville I’m close to Ikea, a premium outlet mall, and a Crate and Barrel Outlet. Oh, the shopping I could do if I had time and didn’t want to rush back to Madison to start my weekend.
On the bright side, I found out today that I may be able to finish my degree by only taking about 11 credits! I could be done by May or maybe August and actually start to think seriously about this graduate school idea I’ve been tossing around for the last year or so. I guess this means I have at least 9 months or so to decide what I want to do with the rest of my life.
Parenting Equations to Remember
((3 year olds + scissors) – parental supervision)=Preschooler Beauty Parlor
Last night I noticed Adam was most definitely missing hair on the back of his head. I wondered what he could have possibly gotten into at daycare to have them cut out chunks of his hair.
Then I got this e-mail from my friend EK this morning:
“ps – is Adam missing anything? hair, maybe? apparently they were playing beauty parlor with a pair of scissors… L is missing some hair (we found the hair in the play room which clued us in) on the sides, and says that they took turns – she says she cut some from Adam on the back of his head…?”
Happy Birthday, Adam!
Today is Adam’s third birthday! Technically at this time I was in early labor and not yet in the screaming horrendous pain that came later.
The weird thing is I remember lots of really unpleasant pain, but it doesn’t actually seem like it went on for 2-3 hours. I just remember pain, pain, pain, pain, pain, epidural, slightly less pain, nice hospital person actually connecting epidural, sweet pain relief, C-Section and according to the little slip of paper I found the other day — birth at 19:34 EDT.
OK, so enough about me. I’m just feeling sorry for myself that my little tiny baby is such a big boy now.
Language Nerd
I was Googling the difference between Shall and Will — I have to re-write some legal documentation here at work and was trying to use the correct word. Wikipedia was actually quite helpful, but I found this link and I want this calendar for next year.
I shall have it!
It will be mine!
Also, if G.B. Shaw actually refers to George Bernard Shaw, then he should have been flogged to death for this comment.
There are many days when I have to fight the urge to say I’ve been TASKED.
Party Preparation
In less than a week we’re having our House-Warming party.
We still don’t have our new siding. (yep, still in the driveway…damp and covered with leaves).
This means we can’t even think about putting up any of our pictures and the more I unpack and re-arrange, the more pictures I find that I want to find homes for.
Grr.
I’m REALLY getting annoyed with MadCityRoofing. An update on some kind of ETA would be nice. Seriously.
And, our furnace is broken. MGE came out last week and slapped a huge DO NOT USE sign on the furnace after we smelled gas venting outside behind the house. (um.. yikes)
Where's my damn siding?
A little over a week ago we came home to find several boxes of granite-colored vinyl siding in our driveway.
Yippeeeeeee! Siding!
Soon, we thought, the dented yellow aluminum (aluminium) siding would be gone and we could finally finish our interior decorating projects.
Really, I guess I know the answer to my own question.
My damn siding is in my driveway in 8 or 9 boxes. Eight or 9 boxes BLOCKING a direct path to back out cleanly from my driveway.
We’re supposed to have our house-warming party next weekend and I was REALLY hoping that the siding would be done and the pictures would be up and I would, for one brief moment, have a clean and organized house. Alas, I do not think it was meant to be.
No Comments Make Kirsti Sad :(
So here I am thinking NO ONE EVER READS my blog anymore. No comments. Why doesn’t anyone comment? Where’s the love?
But just tonight RyanK tells me something about a moderation queue on the blog because he left a comment for me re: his birthday party. I looked and saw no comments by Ryan, but I was dying to find out what he wrote and to what section of armlessbear limbo they had gotten to.
So I finally discover by poking around and trying to leave a comment while not logged in that I do indeed have a moderation queue that NO ONE EVER (ahem, Mike) told me about. No e-mails saying “hey, you have comments in moderation”
This Weeks Weather Conditions: #8a8a8a
This evening’s weather will be: #5d5d5d
3 more days of this and my mood will be: #000000
I would rather see some of this:
I thought about posting a picture of a tropical beach, but its September in Wisconsin. No point in looking at scenes I’m not likely to see without a 7 day vacation to the Caribbean.
A Quiet Week
This weekend we dropped Adam off with my parents up in Spooner. I am pleased to say that for our relatively short stay in Spooner, we enjoyed it immensely. We relaxed, we read, we napped, we played Sudoku, we ran around outside with Adam and his new sprinkler ball. The well water at my parent’s house is COLD — even in July when its almost 100 degrees outside.
Adam enjoyed “helping” water the plants at night. He also enjoyed running around buck naked (except for his water socks) in the back yard. Mike and I enjoyed fresh veggies from the garden and a lovely dinner cooked by my parents. Then we drove back on the hot, busy, crowded interstate. Back to the house with no A/C.
