Tempting the Wrath of God

Something got smote this morning.

I had just left Starbucks clutching my latte and delighting/bemoaning the news that a harbinger of Autumn was arriving next week – the Pumpkin Spice Latte! As if faux tombstones and spider-webbing in the display at Walgreens isn’t bad enough.

Rockin' with the Wiggles

Last night I took Adam to his first concert ever – The Wiggles. We arrived early to find our seats and get settled. I was fortunate enough to get floor seats so that Adam could join the other kids in the impromptu pre-schooler mosh-pit you see on the Wiggles TV show. Really, the seats at these shows are only for the adults, the kids barely sit down for the 90 minute show.
OK, so it’s a kids show, but these guys are great performers who can sing, dance, and keep this hard to entertain age group incredibly entertained.
The red Wiggle, Murray, brought his guitar out and played the opening notes of Stairway to Heaven which amused the adults and, I’m sure, confused the kids.

He Said You'd Never Go Back....

Saturday at Farmers Market we bought 2 kinds of garlic from the garlic guy.
I don’t actually remember the names of the garlic we bought, but the nice man said once we’d had real garlic, we’d never ever buy supermarket garlic again.

Yeah, yeah, blah, blah…. taste sensation… mmmhmm, I just need some damn garlic.

Except he was right. Tonight when making pasta sauce I took 2 fat juicy cloves, crushed and chopped them. Oh, the aroma! I dropped them into a pan filled with hot olive oil and our house was filled with the most delicious garlic aroma ever.
I tasted little crushed piece. VERY strong! Delightfully full of yummy garlicky flavor and just ever so slightly sharp on the tongue.

Seasonal musings

Just before I got sick I caught the first scent of autumn air – the cool, damp, breezy morning.

Then I got sick, it got HOT and HUMID and started acting like a proper summer.
My garden in all it’s dark green leafy splendor is already showing signs of the harvest around the corner.

Summer Colds

How do you know you’re sick?

When you can take NyQuil (original flavor) and not even notice it has a taste at all.

When you can smell and taste milk that is apparently “off” and not be able to tell until someone else nearly gags at the smell.

Also, “Non-drowsy formula” is a damned dirty lie, I tell ya.
I’m nearly asleep at my desk, unable to smell or taste much and desperate for a nap.
