Snowhere2Go

When we left VA we had an idea of what sort of house we wanted.
More space, better layout, storage, a garage, a backyard, a bigger kitchen, the ability to have more than 3 people over and not have our house feel crowded and location, location, location.
So we did pretty well for ourselves, but we failed to factor in one small issue.

Snow.

LOTS OF SNOW with nowhere to go.

Our driveway is a shared space on one side, house on the other with a little bit of yard in the front.

New Music

We’ve got some new music for the first time in a while:

[amazon info B000KCHZK6]
(Norah Jones) Still enjoyable, but I haven’t decided if I like it as much as her previous albums

[amazon info B0009OL808]
(Fountains of Wayne) Quite good, though be warned that these songs are almost guaranteed to get into your head and stay a while. Includes a surprisingly good cover of “…Baby One More Time” that should not be missed, if only to hear a good version of that song

[amazon info B000CS4L1E]
(Neko Case) The best of this batch. I’ve heard her described as alt-country, which I suppose is about the best fit, if one were forced to choose a genre.

[amazon info B000GG4XCO]
(Hellogoodbye) This one is just fun. Guitar and a bit of a They Might Be Giants feel.

Thanks Sara... now we've all got to do it.

Might as well get this out of the way, since it ended up fitting better than these things usually do:

You Are Bert
Extremely serious and a little eccentric, people find you loveable – even if you don’t love them!

You are usually feeling: Logical – you rarely let your emotions rule you

You are famous for: Being smart, a total neat freak, and maybe just a little evil

How you life your life: With passion, even if your odd passions (like bottle caps and pigeons) are baffling to others

Madtown Twisters

This afternoon we took Adam to Madtown Twisters. I had a picture of their facility on their website and had an idea of what to expect. I hoped that Adam would play and run and burn off some energy.
He did.
He ran and jumped and climbed and bounced and swung and had a great time for an hour and half.
I wish I’d known about this place sooner. What a perfect place to blow off some steam. Now they need one of these places on an adult scale so we can jump into pits of foam balls and bounce 4 feet in the air on our backs on a trampoline.
wheeeee!

Shifting Perspectives

The other day I was listening to a song, Maroon 5’s Harder to Breathe and suddenly I was on Arlington Blvd between 7 Corners and the Clarendon exits. I had a clear visual of the surrounding environment. I felt that if I walked out of the house I could just get into the car and be there in a matter of minutes.

I hate to overstate the obvious, but DAMN it’s cold outside. As an adult with books, a laptop, iTunes, DVDs, a phone to the outside, food-delivering world, I can safely hole up inside under blankets and wait until that moment when I have to go outside (work).
I am not 3. I am not filled with vast stores of unlimited pent-up energy (oh, that I were…).
