I’ve got two new book series that I’ll need to find everything published for, which is good because I’ve been looking for something new to keep my interest.

The first is the Song of Ice and Fire, by George R. R. Martin. I’ve read the first book, A Game of Thrones, and must read more. Multiple factions, no one is really evil or good (though there are some factions you’re supposed to like more than others), not being afraid to kill off characters, and a slow return of magic to the world. It doesn’t help that he ended the first book without really ending anything.

The second is Raymond E. Feist’s Riftwar Saga, of which I’ve read the first book (_Magician: Apprentice_) and started on the second (_Magician: Master_). This started out as a fairly standard fantasy series, but with age seems to be pulling away into something more faceted.

I have some reading to do.

that's on my list too

Tell me if it’s worth it. The GRRM books are on my list too.

I just finished a great book a couple of weeks ago.

“World War Z”

On the surface it’s about zombies, but it’s more of a modern social and political commentary told as a series short interviews with surivors of the “Zombie War” which supposedly will be taking place in the very near future. Not too gory, it feels more like an alien invasion book. Really gets you thinking about how our world would react to such a thing.

The Author is Max Brooks (Son of Mel Brooks). Check it out.
