I’m typing this message on a laptop from System76. I ordered a Pangolin Value system from them last week, and it arrived on Thursday. I have of course customized the pre-installed Ubuntu, notably by installing the Kubuntu packages.

I’ve been wanting some portable computing power for myself for a while, and been considering a laptop for a while, mostly because now that we’re in bike-friendly Madison, it might be nice to go out and sit by the lake and write some code or read the interwebs outside of my house. If the break at the midpoint of a bike ride is a coffee and the chance to catch up on things, I’ll be more likely to summon up the motivation to actually do it.

That’s the theory, anyway.
