Yowsa!
What I didn’t mention in my weekend of hell is that I had a 4 page paper due on Monday. I was supposed to interview a couple farmers, research agricultural economics on global, state and local scale and write some sort of paper about my findings. Since I was up til 10:50 on Friday night finishing my Machu Picchu paper and related assignments, I didn’t have time to do much research on this econ paper. Saturday I took my tooth-achiness to Farmers Market and wandered around trying to find a farmer who wasn’t busy to talk to. Fortunately for me, the extreme cold Saturday morning kept my tooth pretty quiet until the opiates arrived at Walgreens.
Then I went home and used my drug-induced haze to catch up on sleep.
Well, then Sunday happened. I managed to eke out some research around 4 am Monday morning before giving up on having more lucid thoughts.
Monday I was home by noonish. I allowed myself to sleep until 4pm, woke up, did more research, set my page settings to 12 pt font, double spaced, one inch margins and started typing. I paused to enjoy the delights of delivered pizza and some diet coke and continued typing. I was sure that I would fail this assignment. My arguement was flawed, lacked cohesion, and was pretty poorly written. I was still on a small amount of painkillers, was suffering terrible stomach problems from the after-effects of 2 days of heavy use of painkillers (think Trainspotting).
I just let it all go… I figured a turned-in crappy paper was better than no paper at all. At least I tried and I could make it up with my subsequent papers. I e-mailed the paper at 11:58pm, 1 minute for the deadline. Wooo!
I got my grade back today and a comment from the instructor.
Here it is in all its glory:
“Excellent job on this assignment – very good discussion of the economic impact of agriculture and good data provided to support the discussion. I wish all of the first papers for this class were of this caliber… Keep up the good work! 15/15”
Yowsa.
Good Job!
Hooray! That’s the kind of paper I SUCK at. Just reading about that makes me glad I went for science.
hmm...
How is it that I just now saw the “reply” to comment feature?
Anyway – I forgot to say maybe you should do all your papers on drugs :)
