The Wrong Side of the Bed

We seem to be waking up on the wrong side of the bed.
One day Adam was cranky, the next Mike, and now me.
I felt cranky when I went to bed and the same when I woke up. Come to think of it, I felt vaguely cranky this weekend, too. It’s all very weird since I was totally psyched all weekend about the porch and I had a great time at the park enjoying the sun and company and watching boys being boys (both kids and grownup boys).
This morning I wished that we were still demolishing the porch so that I could ask to take the sledge hammer and hit the walls a couple times. I felt like naked agression might just take the edge off my crankiness.
Last summer when I was at AT&T I watched the demolition of the building across the street on W. Wash. That was vaguely satisfying. Quite a few years ago (2003 I think?) they were demolishing part of Crystal Plaza (in Arlington) for renovations. It was very loud, but we’d stand out on the sidewalk in the warm Virginia sun sipping our Starbucks iced coffees and watch big machinery tear into concrete, asphalt, and steel and rip away large chunks of parking ramp.
We imagined those guys probably didn’t have much outright agression left at the end of the day. We desk jockeys, on the other hand, never go to do anything that physically satisfying and wantonly destructive. Poor us. :)
So this morning I walked to work and felt a lot less cranky when I got here. I took some pretty pictures on the way, enjoyed the sun, the exercise, and The Fratellis.
Aaaaahhhhhhh…. I feel better, not entirely cranky-free, but much better.
