The Melting Pot Comes to Madison
Last Friday, the 24th, Mike and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We’re not exactly sure what we did for the previous 4 anniversaries — possibly 2 trips to Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg, VA (delicious!) and some Italian place in Arlington with a horrendous one-man band singing “pop standards” and some Christmas music.
This year we got reservations to the “Lover’s Lane” section of the Melting Pot — newly opened over on Odana Road. We opted for the 4 course meal including the cheddar cheese fondue(with beer), salad, meat course, and the bailey’s chocolate fondue course.
DELICIOUS!
After our dinner we retired to the west side Holiday inn complete with in-room jacuzzi tub and had a nice evening in without the interruption of cats, child or my parents.

A few people commented on how it was great to make it 5 years. It is great and I know a lot of relationships that don’t always make it that far. Still, when you look at the possibility of spending a lifetime with someone 5 years is a blink of the eye. It would be worse, I think, if it felt like 5 (long) years, but it hasn’t. It’s gone by so quickly that I’m sure before we know it it will be 2011, Adam will be in the 2nd grade, and it won’t even seem like 10 years has gone by, despite all evidence to the contrary.
It should seem somewhat depressing (the thought of growing old anyway), but I’m anxious to see where the next 5 years brings us in our lives.
