Saturday afternoon I took Adam to the Goodman Pool for some swimming fun. Foolishly, I waited until I got to the pool to put on my sunscreen. I could only reach so far down my back and wound up with SUNBURN on areas that haven’t seen the sun in ages. And the dumbest tan-line ever. ugh.

Saturday night Mike was gone and I called someone to come over and spray me with Aloe. Sunday it REALLY HURT. Monday I stayed home from work to avoid having to put a bra on over the blistered areas.

Last night it started to ITCH with a vengeance. I managed to get it to stop itching and was able to get about 4 hours of sleep.

Today at work has been un-freakin’-bearable. I hiked up to Walgreens to get spray on anti-itch stuff with lidocaine and benzocaine and doused my back in the work bathroom.

Still no relief. I tried my hairbrush for scratching — only momentary relief and pain followed by yet more intense itching.

I had sushi for lunch and tried the other end of the chopstick for scratching after I was done eating. That actually worked better, right up until I accidentally put it back in my mouth and got a mouthful of benzocaine. (I MUST stop biting on things when I have stress)

Finally, I was reduced to doing something I thought I’d never do at work. I deduced by bra was actually causing some of the more intense itching. First I unhooked it and sat for a bit. Still too itchy. Then I put on my cardigan sweater for extra cover and as surreptitiously as possible, pulled it off completely and stuffed it in my back pack.

Now I only have moderately annoying itching, but nothing as bad as earlier this morning. I can only hope that by tomorrow it has stopped itching. I’d honestly rather have the intense pain than the itching — I feel like I’m going insane!
