Things that seem like a good idea
You’re short on cash, you need food for lunch. Your local big box super store has TV dinners on sale for 99 cents.
How bad could a Banquet fried chicken with mashed potatoes and corn really be?
Gag-a-licious.
At least, I console myself, the majority of the advertized 450 calories are in the wastebasket and not my stomach. Ugh.
People keep asking me how I like Madison, or if I miss DC or if I think it was a good idea to move.
I like Madison fine, it’s a nice city, houses are (relatively) cheap, my commute is short, family is close. The weather for May has sucked and I could use some warm weather to dry out my sinuses and help my ear infection clear up. I think if we could enjoy our evenings and weekends more, it would be nice. This bad weather just needs to clear up.
I do miss it a bit, but I don’t miss Waxpool Road at 5:45pm, or the Dulles Toll road in either AM or PM rush hour. I miss the Ryans and DC101 in the morning. I miss the 4 hour drive to New York and I could a weekend getaway.
Do I think it was a good idea to move? Weeeeeeellllll, now there’s the $378,000(neg) question.
Maybe we should have stayed until we had an actual offer (we’d still be there). Since Adam isn’t actually in school, we have flexibility we won’t have when he is in kindergarten and old enough to really know he’s been moved far away from his friends. In the meantime, everyone will have to bear with us as we Bloys are short on cash and a little frayed around the edges(mostly me) and possibly going gray(also mostly me).
We’re up for anything as long as it is cheap (or free). If/When our Ashburn townhouse finally sells, we’ll have a big party to celebrate being debt free (right before we launch ourselves back into debt with another house).
I wish I knew someone in the VA area who wanted to buy...
…but I don’t. Keep your chin up!
Things will get better. I talked with Eileen about possibly getting together at their house for a cookout. It’s tough because both her mom and dad have cancer and she’s going up there every other weekend. I’m hoping to find a suitable weekday; sometime when everyone is free…
More details later.
