A Quiet Week

This weekend we dropped Adam off with my parents up in Spooner. I am pleased to say that for our relatively short stay in Spooner, we enjoyed it immensely. We relaxed, we read, we napped, we played Sudoku, we ran around outside with Adam and his new sprinkler ball. The well water at my parent’s house is COLD — even in July when its almost 100 degrees outside.
Adam enjoyed “helping” water the plants at night. He also enjoyed running around buck naked (except for his water socks) in the back yard. Mike and I enjoyed fresh veggies from the garden and a lovely dinner cooked by my parents. Then we drove back on the hot, busy, crowded interstate. Back to the house with no A/C.

It’s quiet at the house. There’s no Adam running around manically. No Adam getting his own yogurt.
No Adam INSISTING he can’t go to bed yet. “IT’S NOT DARK, ITS CLOUDY!” (pure comedy gold, except for the screaming!)
No Adam saying “I can’t want to go to school.”

It’s a little too quiet. We wondered what we used to do with all this quiet time. I think we’ll just enjoy being lazy and catching a few extra minutes of sleep in the morning.

The relative peace is nice, but I miss him and all his crazy silliness.

On the Housing Front:
Today we have our Home inspection at the new house. I forgot to bring a tape measure — I wanted to measure some things at the house. damnit. I guess a trip to the hardware store in in order.
The Virginia house closes July 28th. I had a nice conversation with the Title company about fed-exing me the closing documents. It sounds like all those will be in the mail on Thursday or Friday. I’m very excited.

The following Friday we close on our new house in Madison. We can’t actually move in for 2 more weeks (RENT BACK!), but that gives us time to get ready to move out.

I’m hoping for a much more relaxed September and hopefully a long Autumn. This summer has been waaay too stressful.
