In less than a week we’re having our House-Warming party.
We still don’t have our new siding. (yep, still in the driveway…damp and covered with leaves).
This means we can’t even think about putting up any of our pictures and the more I unpack and re-arrange, the more pictures I find that I want to find homes for.
Grr.
I’m REALLY getting annoyed with MadCityRoofing. An update on some kind of ETA would be nice. Seriously.
And, our furnace is broken. MGE came out last week and slapped a huge DO NOT USE sign on the furnace after we smelled gas venting outside behind the house. (um.. yikes)
Now the home warranty people tell us that it may be considered a pre-existing condition and they may not cover it. Isn’t that what HOME WARRANTIES ARE ALL ABOUT? Pre-existing conditions on in a used house that you didn’t anticipate. damnit.
So, $3k to $4k later we hope to have a furnace installed — hopefully before the party and really hopefully before the first cold snap. I suppose I could cook a lot. The stove really seems to heat up the house a lot. I could cook a turkey or large pot roast and hope for the best.
The best I think I can hope for now is having our furnace installed before the average evening temperature is lower than 45F.
Today, however, I’m crossing my fingers and hoping our new table from Steinhafels arrives without defects this time.
SOMETHING has to go right, RIGHT? It would be nice to think the universe isn’t trying to steal all our money, vacation time and sanity.
