Cabin Fever, parent style

I hate to overstate the obvious, but DAMN it’s cold outside. As an adult with books, a laptop, iTunes, DVDs, a phone to the outside, food-delivering world, I can safely hole up inside under blankets and wait until that moment when I have to go outside (work).
I am not 3. I am not filled with vast stores of unlimited pent-up energy (oh, that I were…).
Adam has cabin fever in the worst way. He hasn’t been really outside since we took him sledding a couple weekends back. He’s been bundled up and moved from warm building to car and back again. We took him to Chuck E. Cheese last Saturday and he got to burn off some energy, but not nearly enough.
The weekend is approaching, the weather is still slated to be REALLY COLD, and therefore not appropriate to children playing outside.
We went to the mall tonight and he just wanted to RUN EVERYWHERE and not got back outside. I am dreading the weekend. I’ve been looking at the websites for the YMCA and for the Warner Park rec center hoping to find something that suggests a preschooler friendly place where I can take him and turn him loose for an hour or two, but I’m not having much luck.
Help!

Is he too old to be amused by the stuff at the Madison Children’s Museum? I don’t recall ability to RUN there, but they do have things to climb on if I remember right. Way back in Child Psych I had to go there and observe.

Not big enough

Adam needs to run down something the size of an airport terminal (at O’Hare) or Mall of America… all while screaming aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh(the way kids do when they run..)

Madtown Twisters

Madtown Twisters gymnastics school is open to the general public on Saturdays. They have a toddler time in the early afternoon, I think. It’s around $7 for the kids, free for parents (but grown-ups can’t use the equipment). I don’t know all the details, but they have a web site. Baby E. and I are going out of town for the day this Sat. for a baby shower, but Jeff and N. will be home and I was going to suggest they try it out. Should they call you guys?
